2012 Business Partner of the Year AwardThe Oklahoman Direct, formerly DeLong Mailing Service, is the oldest mailer in Oklahoma. They were issued the first business mail permit in Oklahoma and still hold Permit No. 1 today.

The Oklahoman Direct has actively participated in the Greater Oklahoma Postal Customer Council (GO-PCC) for over 25 years; since the inception of the PCC in the Oklahoma City area. They take pride in their solid postal relations. The Oklahoman Direct understands the value the PCC offers and, fully supports and promotes the GO-PCC. They do this in a number of ways:

  • A Gold Member of the Greater Oklahoma Postal Customer Council.
  • Allow employees to be a representative on their behalf and to be an active member in the GO-PCC. Two employees of The Oklahoman Direct are on the Executive Board of the GO-PCC. One of these employees holds the Officer Position of Treasurer. The other employee serves as Program/Publicity committee chairman.
  • Provides a meeting facility that accommodates up to 200 people for the National PCC Day and, if needed provides an overflow facility. These facilities allow the GO-PCC to either broadcast live the Postmaster General’s comments on the National PCC Day or, utilize the National PCC Day CD.
  • Provides a meeting room and technical support for 6-10 Educational Sessions throughout the year.
  • Designs, prints and mails various GO-PCC promotional items throughout the year.
  • Prints and mails the GO-PCC Newsletters.
  • Participates in all GO-PCC events, on the Local Level.
  • Provide doors prizes at various GO-PCC events.
  • On the National Level, they understand the importance of obtaining first hand knowledge and training. A representative of The Oklahoman Direct has attended over 25 National Postal Forums and specifically 8 of the last 10 National Postal Forums. On behalf of The Oklahoman Direct, their representative makes it a priority to attend the PCC Leadership opening sessions, along with other classes within the Postal Customer Council track.
  • Publicizes all GO-PCC events on their online calendar WIMGO and via their website.
  • Provides a reporter and photographer at all major GO-PCC events and then ensures the article is published in the local newspaper- The Oklahoman- the largest newspaper distributor in the state.

Todd Lamb to the Greater Oklahoma Postal Customer Council. Written by a Staff Writer of The Oklahoman newspaper and published on June 13, 2012.
  • Provides media attention to both GO-PCC and USPS causes.
  • Two Oklahoman Direct employees have been recipients of the Southwest Area (now Southern Area) PCC Member of the Year Awards.
  • After a promotion from the GO-PCC on the Executive Mail Center Manager Program, two employees from the Oklahoman Direct attended the training at the National Center for Employee Development in Norman OK.
